Role Summary

The incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling all operational activities within their area of responsibility, including operations management, process control, related services, and equipment maintenance. He or she ensures the achievement of efficiency, quality, profitability, and compliance objectives by integrating health, safety, and environmental principles into all aspects of the department’s activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Integrate HSE objectives into the operational strategy and daily practices while promoting a proactive culture of risk prevention and environmental protection;
  • Plan, organize, and oversee operational activities to achieve performance targets (cost, deadlines, quality, efficiency);
  • Ensure the implementation of strategic or technological projects aimed at improving operational and energy efficiency and reducing the environmental footprint;
  • Monitor budgets for the areas under their responsibility;
  • Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and rigorously track results;
  • Act as a change leader during process transformation initiatives or the deployment of new technologies;
  • Supervise, engage, and develop operational management teams while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement;
  • Promote and ensure the smooth execution of improvement opportunity identification processes and the implementation of innovative solutions (Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, etc.);
  • Participate in identifying, recommending, and approving capital investment projects within their sector, and ensure proper follow-up;
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards (ISO, ASI, etc.);
  • Participate in various committee meetings with shareholders;
  • Collaborate on internal committees as needed (employee relations, HSE, etc.).

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or equivalent;
  • 10 to 15 years of team management experience in an industrial environment;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools;
  • Strong command of spoken and written English.

  1. First interview with Glasford International Canada (executive search firm);
  2. Second interview with the Superintendent, Director of Operations, Talent Management & Acquisition, and the VP of Operations;
  3. Third interview with the CEO and the VP of Human Resources & Corporate Affairs;
  4. Plant and city tour in Sept-Îles.
