Position Overview
The role of the Quality Director is essential for fostering continuous improvement, maintaining product integrity, and promoting a quality-driven culture within the organization. It is also crucial to ensure product compliance with both internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Site Director of Operations and working closely with the Operations, Engineering, and Compliance teams, the Quality Director ensures the proper application of our quality procedures and the delivery of high-quality outcomes to our customers. The Director is part of a global Quality team and interacts with international counterparts under the leadership of the Global Vice President of Quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) activities, including leading and managing QA and QC teams (inspectors, analysts, and quality engineers).
- Supervise the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS), maintain it, and recommend and implement improvements as needed.
- Ensure compliance with ISO9001 and other applicable standards.
- Develop and track key quality metrics (e.g., PPM, RMA rate) and lead initiatives to improve performance.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, including regulatory inspections and customer audits.
- Ensure prompt and thorough investigation of non-conformities, CAPAs, and customer complaints.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain departments to embed quality in all processes.
- Maintain accurate documentation and lead management reviews on quality performance.
- Train and mentor quality personnel and support ongoing professional development.
- Promote a strong quality culture within the organization through relevant actions and programs.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, life sciences, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of international experience in QA/QC, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of QMS standards and regulatory requirements (ISO9001).
- Proven experience in conducting audits, managing teams, and driving quality improvement.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Required Work Experience
- Experience in a manufacturing or medical device environment.
- Six Sigma, ASQ, or similar quality systems certification.
- Familiarity with ERP and QMS software platforms.
- Exceptional responsiveness to customer requests.
- Demonstrated ability to use Six Sigma tools.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to thrive in a constantly evolving and improving environment.
- Direct experience in the high-tech sector with optoelectronic-related products is a plus.
