Our client

Our client has built a solid reputation since 1973 in commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. Our expertise ranges from general contracting and construction management to fixed-cost and turnkey project management.

Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, the incumbent will be responsible for the complete supervision and coordination of all stages of construction projects (collaboration with subcontractors, close relationship with the client, monitoring of costs and schedules, etc.).
  • Follow up on calls for tenders and related contracts
  • Analyze bids
  • Manage plans, specifications, and addenda (full understanding of plans and specifications required)
  • Award contracts
  • Manage changes and directives
  • Follow up on change notices (estimates, client submissions, negotiations, issuing orders and/or contracts)
  • Prepare recommendations and obtain client approval
  • Establish a detailed schedule using Microsoft Project
  • Organize initial project kick-off meetings with the relevant stakeholders
  • Organize site meetings as needed
  • Coordinate work in collaboration with the superintendent (schedule, labor requirements, equipment needed, etc.)
  • Resolve disputes in collaboration with the superintendent
  • Prepare a list of items for project cost tracking
  • Perform breakdown and billing
  • Purchase materials for the site
  • Prepare the scope of work by specialty
  • Validate the technical monitoring in place (technical data sheets, inspections, etc.)
  • Ensure administrative follow-up (costs, contingencies, claims, etc.)
  • Supervise the preparation of end-of-project documents with the administrative assistant

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in a similar position
  • Experience in the construction of condos and multi-story buildings
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering (an asset)
  • Fluent in both French and English, both spoken and written
  • Strong management and problem-solving skills
  • Be comfortable with interpersonal communication
  • Be comfortable with negotiation (contracts, disputes)
  • Be able to demonstrate initiative and leadership
  • Have excellent knowledge of MS Office (MS Project, Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Be comfortable with computers
  • Be proactive
