Purpose of the Position
The Mechanical Engineering Project Manager is responsible for managing projects related to technical or engineering changes and improvements involving manufacturing methods, industrial processes and mechanical systems.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage projects, including timelines, costs, deliverables and the coordination of resources within the scope of responsibility;
- Design, develop and implement tooling and industrial mechanical systems, while integrating the required complementary control and automation systems;
- Plan, coordinate and oversee technical implementation activities and the acquisition of industrial equipment;
- Conduct risk assessments and recommend mitigation plans;
- Develop and prepare technical documents, including specifications and technical data sheets;
- Approve and seal plans, specifications and instructions within the scope of professional expertise;
- Prepare reports, specifications, tender documents and requests for proposals based on identified needs;
- Prepare project documentation and meeting minutes, and lead project meetings;
Identify and communicate with potential suppliers and subcontractors, and manage contracts; - Act as a subject-matter expert on the Environment and Sustainable Development Committee;
- Participate in problem-solving activities using a variety of established or innovative methods and techniques, and conduct comparative studies.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completed engineering internship and on track to obtain the 24 months of experience required by the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec;
- Proficiency with CAD and FEA software is considered an asset;
- Excellent command of French and good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, along with strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong commitment to the continuous development of technical knowledge and to monitoring technological advancements;
- Strong project management, technical writing and complex problem-solving skills;
- Excellent communication skills.
